01-03-2025: Pwani University Confirms GR42 Polymer’s Effectiveness in Kenyan Soil
Pwani University recently conducted important tests to assess the effectiveness of GR42, a polymer developed by Green GeoEarth, in Kenyan soil. The university’s research aimed to determine whether the polymer could perform as expected in local agricultural conditions, particularly in Kilifi County.
The results showed that GR42 successfully improved soil moisture retention and fertility, leading to better crop growth and increased yields. Plots treated with the polymer outperformed control plots, demonstrating significant benefits for farmers. Additionally, GR42 reduced water use by 80%, a vital finding for areas facing water scarcity.
The involvement of Pwani University in these tests provided valuable scientific insight, helping to validate the potential of GR42 for enhancing agricultural practices and improving food security in Kenya. This collaboration marks a significant step toward more sustainable farming in the region. Click HERE to see the results.
01-03-2025: Royal Flora Holland Tests New Substrate for Improved Houseplants
Royal Flora Holland, a global leader in flower and plant auctions, recently tested a new substrate, GR42, for growing potted Spathiphyllum cv ‘Vivaldi’ (peace lily). Traditionally, peat has been used to grow houseplants, but its environmental impact and scarcity have led to a search for more sustainable alternatives.
GR42, made from renewable sources, stores more water than peat, which could be particularly helpful for plant retailers, where watering is often inconsistent.

By holding more water, the substrate could improve the quality and shelf life of houseplants, benefiting both retailers and customers.
The tests, carried out by Royal Flora Holland for the team at Green GeoEarth, focused on Spathiphyllum cv ‘Vivaldi, known for its high evaporation rate and sensitivity to drought. The aim was to see if GR42 could improve the plant's quality and longevity, providing a more sustainable option for the houseplant industry. Click HERE to see the results.
